Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo said on Tuesday China will continue to promote its ties with Vanuatu

BEIJING, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo said on Tuesday China will continue to promote its ties with Vanuatu.

"The Chinese government attaches great importance to China-Vanuatu relations, and is ready to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, to promote the continuous development of bilateral ties," said Dai in a meeting with Vanuatu's Foreign Minister Georges Andre Wells.

Dai hailed the current good development of bilateral relations and the remarkable achievements of exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

Dai also explained China's position on the Taiwan issue, and expressed his appreciation of Vanuatu's adherence to the one-China policy.

Wells said Vanuatu and China have a strong relationship, and the Vanuatuan government and people appreciated the development aid that China has provided to Vanuatu, expressing his hope to expand economic and trade cooperation between Vanuatu and China.

Wells also reiterated that the Vanuatuan government will continue to adhere to the one-China policy.
